Our friends' trip to Ireland fishing turned out to be a costly mistake as they ended up spending a week on the water instead of actually fishing for their desired species. This meant we had no chance to test out our new gift and were left high and dry, literally speaking, when it was clear that the rod's handle had broken off with such force that it would have been impossible to repair. I'm still fuming about this purchase and was shocked that someone so clearly knew how to use a fishing rod wouldn't work even if they just wanted to try one out for a week, let alone be stranded in Ireland with no rod at all.
