I was a bit skeptical about receiving my rod and reel today, given their delivery time, but when they arrived, everything looked good: well wrapped in a bag with no visible damage. I took them out for a test cast on the harbour shore, where the sea conditions are usually calm during this time of year.

The first thing that caught my attention was how stiff the rod felt at first - it was as if it had been sitting in storage for months instead of just 90 minutes off high tide! But after a few practice casts with the wind in my face and some initial struggles to get my line out, I discovered the truth: this rod is incredibly sensitive. Casting for whiting on such a stiff day proved surprisingly effective, especially when it was windy enough to make my line jerk violently when a fish bit.
